Marketplace Fairness Act & The Remote Transactions Parity Act
A key legislative priority of GFOA’s is federal legislation that would compel retailers to collect taxes on online sales and remit them to the destination of the purchaser. Estimates place the value of the lost revenue from failure to collect these taxes at over $23 billion annually.

Attached is a white paper prepared by 1000 Friends of CT, a group which has studied CT property tax and made recommendations for changes. This is a group that has credibility as a voice for property tax reform and since this is an issue that is front and center with the State legislature it is useful to know what is being talked about.
