JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB TITLE:  Accounts Clerk

 

CLASSIFICATION:  Hourly                BARGAINING UNION:  IFPTE 3C

 

SUPERVISOR:  Controller

 

SCOPE:  The Accounts Clerk will be responsible for timely processing and payment of invoices and provide support for the Finance department and preforms payroll for the Town of Brookfield.

           

 

Responsibilities:

 

§  Provide accounts payable functions.

§  Coordinates with the Human Resources Department to perform payroll functions within the designated HRIS/Payroll system.

§  Provide supplementary support for the reconciliation of checking accounts for all groups of funds.

§  Provide spreadsheet and document creation for various reports as needed.

§  File invoices and correspondence.

§  Answer department phones and distribute calls appropriately.

§  Sort and distribute departmental mail, route invoices.

§  Maintain correspondence files.

§  Update fixed assets inventory.

§  Maintain office supplies for the Finance Department.

§  Reconcile monthly vendor statements.

§  Maintain the chart of accounts and create new funds & accounts.

§  Record bank deposits.

§  Assist internal and external customers and vendors with account payable issues.

§  Enter and post new budgets upon approval.

§  Perform other related duties as required.

 

Education and Training

 

§  High School diploma or equivalent required.

§  Associates degree in a business or finance related field preferred.

§  Three (3) years’ experience in a finance or payroll and related field.

 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: 

 

§  Excellent organizational skills.

§  Ability to multitask and complete multiple projects on-time and within budget.

§  Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including database management.

§  Ability to interact professionally with multiple levels of the general public, Town Officials and Town Employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time to view & operate computer equipment, and to stand for extended periods of time.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop and kneel.  The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
