client, The South Central CT Regional Water Authority (RWA) has been in
existence for over 150 years and is one of the premier drinking water providers
in the country. They currently serve nearly 500,000 customers in
Connecticut. The RWA excels at not only
providing exceptional water and services to their clients, they also take their
role as stewards of the environment and contributors to their community very
seriously. This balanced focus on their customers and the environment has
made them one of only a handful of public drinking water systems in the US
awarded the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) Platinum Award
for Exceptional Utility Performance. The RWA is also a recent recipient of the New England Water Works Association’s (NEWWA) Utility
of the Year Award in the large size utility category.
The RWA's currently seeking a new Director of
Finance that will be responsible for managing all areas of finance and accounting.
While managing an exceptional team, they’ll also have hands on involvement in
all areas of finance and accounting. This
will include the review and analysis of all financial and revenue data, all
forecasting (short and long term), as well as coordination of the annual
financial audit and budget process. Focusing on the delivery of accurate,
timely and complete financial information.
This person will also contribute to managing debt, interim financing and
evaluating investment opportunities.
Additional duties will include oversight and support of rate
applications, managing water revenue models and analytics. As a strategic leader, the Director will play
a key role in evaluating and implementing new technologies, policies and
procedures and evaluating strategies tied to new revenue opportunities being
developed for the RWA. Because of the RWA’s unique corporate status, the
right individual will have an opportunity to advance their financial skills
into new areas. The right individual will enjoy not just the numbers side
of finance and accounting, but the strategic significance and importance of the
numbers to the viability of the Authority's future. This person will
enjoy engaging in spirited discussion pertaining to overall accounting as well
as corporate strategies. This individual will be in a highly visible and
impactful role and have significant opportunity for advancement.
The qualified candidate will be an energetic
leader with utility experience, as well as experience managing or supervising
staff. They should have significant finance and accounting experience,
including: audit, rates, budgeting, debt financing, planning and
forecasting. They will also be capable of working across all levels of
the organization and be comfortable making presentations. The qualified individual will have a
Bachelors’ Degree, ideally this person will be a CPA or have an advanced degree,
such as an MBA.
