Salary Range: $45,000 to $50,000 Dependent upon education and experience, higher end of the salary range for persons with the Associates level of education.
Collects and verifies the validity of all invoices and amounts due from Town funds;
Prepares invoices for payment weekly at most monthly for credit and cost savings;
Verifies accuracy of disbursements required accounting transfers and journal entries;
Performs quarterly accounts payable reconciliations for the accuracy of records;
Reviews and mails vendor check payments and maintains an electronic accounts
payable file of processed records, invoices and copies of checks;
Provides back up in report maintenance, correspondence and related financial duties;
Serves as back-up confidential payroll processor during times of need as required;
Produces and/or prepares reports, correspondence and other material as needed
Responds, within the authority of the position in a professional manner, to public
inquiries made via the telephone, E-mail, mail, or in person with appropriate information
or a referral;
Understand and follow all rules and regulations regarding safety, OSHA
compliance, and workers compensation programs;
Report any hazardous condition or activity to the Director/Supervisor immediately;
Report any work related injury or accident to the Director/Supervisor immediately
and comply with all requirements regarding the Accident Investigation Process,
Return to
Work Program, communicating medical progress with Town management and
insurance carriers, and;
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Other Requirements:Associates Degree (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. The Accounts Payable/Finance Assistant must have the following attributes:
Experience in Municipal Finance, Accounting and computer software including the
Microsoft Office Suite including WORD, EXCEL applications;
The ability to work with a minimum of supervision in a team environment;
Knowledge of proper accounting procedure GAAP, GASB, payroll procedures and practices;
Ability to accurately formulate a sentence utilizing modern software;
Create mathematical calculations utilizing an Excel spreadsheet or calculator;
Ability to respect and work well with others in a compact work environment and to
maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive personnel and banking information;
Maintain complex records, files, data, spreadsheets, calculations, projections;

Position requires prolonged sitting, reaching, twisting, bending and turning in the
performance of daily activities. The position also requires repetitive keyboarding
motion in the preparation of reports, correspondence and use of the computer.
Additionally, the position requires near vision in reading reports and correspondence
and using a computer. Hearing is required when communicating by phone and in
person. The employee may occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
