SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
COMPTROLLER’S DEPARTMENT – CITY OF BRISTOL
Summary: Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information; prepares extensive financial reports. Oversees implementation of City budget. Maintains complex fiscal records; prepares journal entries and maintains the General Ledgers; balances cash with Treasurer’s office. Makes recommendations regarding accounting of balance sheet and income statement accounts. Oversees submission of expenditure/receipt reports on Federal and State grants. Prepares statistical reports and narrative reports and related presentations as required. May serve as working supervisor to subordinate accountant. May fill in for Payroll and Benefits Manager and assist with accounts payable.
Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus six years related experience. Education and experience may be substituted. Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices; ability to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports; good knowledge of accounting and financial management information systems. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be proficient in the use of computers; MUNIS Software experience preferred. Work Hours/Schedule/Type: Full time position, 37½ hours per week. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Salary: $29.27-$32.09/hr. Generous benefits.
