ACCOUNTING – AUDIT COORDINATOR
DEPARTMENT: FINANCE
SALARY: MINIMUM $46,123 ANNUALIZED
REMOVAL DATE: MARCH 28, 2014
NATURE OF WORK:
This is a highly responsible accounting, audit and supervisory position with responsibility for coordinating and insuring the timely completion of the annual city audit as well as performing other major accounting functions with the Controller’s Office. Work involves the maintenance and preparation of financial records, reports, and final financial statements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting and at least 7 to 10 years experience through internships or working in the field of accounting involving auditing work and the analysis and recording of financial transactions. Also, the following knowledge, abilities and skills, including but not limited to: Extensive knowledge of the principles of governmental accounting; Extensive knowledge of the principles of account classification; Considerable knowledge of audit principals and the requirements for managing or coordinating annual audits; Knowledge of accounting theory and its application to accounting transactions, particularly not-for-profit accounting; Knowledge of the maintenance of fixed assets, accounts receivable records maintenance, and compiling and analyzing data for various financial reports; Knowledge and experience in preparing journals, adjusting entries to accounts, postings to various ledgers, analyzing activities in various accounts, and analyzing and reconciling computer generated reports. Knowledge and experience in preparing financial reports, resolving findings and making recommendations to implement corrective actions. Ability to develop a working knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations governing the financial operations of the city; Ability to be responsible for the preparation of bank reconciliations; Ability to plan, schedule and review the work of subordinate employees; Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with city officials, employees, and the general public.
