SALARY RANGE:   The position is a Grade 25 with weekly salary limits as follows:

                                                Minimum................... $808.38

                      Step 1............................. 839.84

                      Step 2............................. 871.49

                      Step 3............................. 902.83

                      Step 4............................. 934.35

                      Maximum.................... 965.81

                                               

Note:   Governing Collective Bargain Agreement expired on June 30, 2019. Wages subject to any newly- negotiated  

              GWI increases.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: This is a highly responsible position and involves moderately difficult accounting and financial work.  This position performs a variety of accounting duties related to the processing, maintenance and review of accounting, financial and statistical data, and other related assignments.  Positions in this class process, prepare and maintain accounting, financial and statistical records and transactions that are part of a more complex computer automated recordkeeping system. Employee of this class performs a variety of complex clerical duties according to clearly defined principles and is expected to exercise independent judgment based upon knowledge gained through experience in the performance of these duties.  An incumbent in this class processes accounting and financial transactions that require independent judgment in researching and reconciling discrepancies.  This class is primarily responsible for performance of job tasks involving arithmetical skills, financial and statistical recordkeeping systems relying upon highly automated business systems.  The position duties require meeting both processing and reporting deadlines, interpretation of multiple guidelines or procedures and resolution of complex problems.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree (or 2 years of other related college level education) in accounting, business administration, finance or related field and practical use of computer equipment; and three (3) years or more experience in recognized finance/accounting work, bookkeeping, purchasing, or finance support and practical use of automated accounting and data processing; or an equivalent combination of education, training and /or experience.

 

SCOPE OF EXAMINATION:  Applicants will need to complete two (2) types of examination: 1) a performance examination weighted at 40% (Intermediate Excel, Customer Service, Petty Cash, Bank Deposit, and Bank Reconciliation) which will test for the ability to utilize various automated financial applications and basic math skills required to perform the essential duties of the position; and 2) an oral exam that will be weighted at 60%. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or better on the performance exam to proceed to the oral exam. A total combined score of 70% or better must be achieved to be placed on the eligibility list.
