a closed promotional and an open examination to fill a future vacancy and establish
an eligibility list for the following classification:
48013 – DEPUTY COMPTROLLER

Rate of Pay: $85,000 - $99,000
This is very
responsible professional accounting and administrative work involving the
performance of a variety of professional financial control functions and
assisting the Comptroller in the direction of a broad range of municipal
finance activities. Work involves responsibility for accounting, internal
audit, financial reporting, computer systems management, conformity of the
accounting and finance system to generally accepted accounting principles and
assigning and overseeing the work of the clerical staff. Duties include assisting the Comptroller in
planning, directing and administering the department's activities, developing
and maintaining the city's computer and data processing systems, budgeting and
monitoring the city's financial position.
The work requires that the employee have considerable knowledge, skill
and ability in every phase of municipal accounting and control functions.
Public Accountant or Certified Public Finance Officer preferred. A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in business,
accounting, public administration or a related field supplemented by courses in
public accounting plus five
years of responsible accounting experience, including at least two years in a government and two years of supervisory
experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides a
demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position.

You must reside within the State of
Connecticut, 60 miles from Norwich within one year of appointment.
