*Salary Range:  $106,402 - $135,669

SUMMARY:  Under the general direction of the Controller, the Assistant Controller performs all activities necessary to ensure proper financial management and adequate internal controls for the City of Stamford, including the BOE (in conjunction with the BOE Finance Department as has been done historically).  Also includes the continuous development and implementation of strong internal controls, report design and development, upkeep of written policies, procedures, and positional responsibilities as required for the Controller’s Office.


In the absence of the Controller, the Assistant Controller acts as back-up for the Controller and/or any other areas within the Controller’s Office, as may be required.


Additionally, the Assistant Controller acts as the financial liaison for, and performs extensive financial analyses and review on behalf of, the City’s Enterprise Funds (Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA), and EG Brennan Golf Course (EGB). 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field and seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in a financial environment, of which two (2) shall have been in a supervisory capacity. Work experience in municipal, government or not-for-profit organization is preferred.  CPA or MBA will be a plus.
