NEW ENGLAND STATES G.F.O.A. GOVERNMENT FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Award: The New England States G.F.O.A. Government Finance Scholarship will be awarded to one or more senior undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in full-time or part-time study preparing for or enhancing a career in state and local government finance.

Amount: UP TO TWO (2) $1,500 SCHOLARHIPS

Closing Date for Applications: FEBRUARY 12, 2007

Award Announcement: BY MARCH 9, 2007

Eligibility Requirements:

Currently a full-time or part-time student in the senior year of an undergraduate or graduate accounting program preparing for or enhancing a career in state and local government finance. A senior, for this purpose, will be defined as a student in, or entering, the last full year of study prior to being eligible for a baccalaureate or masters degree.

-OR-

Any Student employed in the field of government finance in New England.

Citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. residing in, or attending, a college or university in New England.

Recommendation by your academic advisor or the accounting program chair.

Criteria for Scholarship Award:

Plans to pursue or enhance a career in state and local government finance or graduate studies in government finance or public administration.

Strength of past coursework and present plan of study.

Letters of recommendation by your academic advisor, chair of the accounting program, and others.

Undergraduate or graduate grade point average.

Application: Applicants must prepare the following documents for consideration by the scholarship selection committee:

Application form.

Statement of proposed career plan in state and local government finance and, if applicable, plan of graduate study.

Undergraduate or graduate grade transcripts.

Résumé.

Academic advisor's or department chair's letter of recommendation.

Other letters of recommendation (optional).

All of the above items are to be submitted by the applicant's academic advisor or accounting program chair in a single envelope, postmarked no later than FEBRUARY 12, 2007 , to:

New England States G.F.O.A. Scholarship Committee, Post Office Box 406, Lincoln, Rhode Island 02865.

The New England States G.F.O.A. Scholarship Committee will review all applications and make final selections of the award. The winner(s) will be notified in writing on or before MARCH 9, 2007 .

The winner of the New England States G.F.O.A. Government Finance Scholarship will be invited to attend, at our expense, the N.E.S.G.F.O.A.'s Annual Training Seminar at The Learning Center in Marlbourough, MA , on MARCH 29 and 30, 2007, where the award will be presented.
