NEW ENGLAND STATES G.F.O.A. GOVERNMENT FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Award: The New England States G.F.O.A. Government Finance Scholarship to attend the G.F.O.A. Advanced Government Finance Institute in Madison, Wisconsin from July 29 - August 3, 2007 will be awarded to one (1) government finance employee for enhancing a career in state and local government finance. The award is intended to cover the tuition, lodging, meals, and related costs of the program as presented by GFOA.

Amount: ONE (1) $1,850 SCHOLARSHIP TO

THE G.F.O.A. ADVANCED GOVERNMENT FINANCE INSTITUTE

Closing Date for Applications: FEBRUARY 12, 2007

Award Announcement: BY MARCH 9, 2007

Eligibility Requirements:

Any currently employed Government Finance Employee with at least three (3) years experience in the field of government finance in New England.

Citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. residing in New England.

Recommendation by an N.E.S.G.F.O.A. member.

Criteria for Scholarship Award:

Plans to enhance her/his career in state and local government finance or public administration.

Accomplishments in government finance.

Letter(s) of Recommendation by your immediate supervisor and/or an N.E.S.G.F.O.A. member, and others.

Statement of how this program will help you to enhance your government finance abilities (see attached).

Application: Applicants must prepare the following documents for consideration by the Scholarship Committee:

Application form.

Statement of proposed career plan in state and local government finance and plan of graduate study (if app.).

Undergraduate or graduate grade transcripts.

Résumé.

Letter(s) of Recommendation from your immediate supervisor or Finance Department Head and/or an N.E.S.G.F.O.A. member.

Other letters of recommendation (optional).

All of the above items are to be submitted in a single envelope postmarked no later than FEBRUARY 12, 2007, to:

New England States G.F.O.A. Scholarship Committee, Post Office Box 406, Lincoln, Rhode Island 02865

The New England States G.F.O.A. Scholarship Committee will review all applications and make final selections of the award. The winner will be notified in writing on or before MARCH 9, 2007. The winner of the New England States G.F.O.A. Government Finance Scholarship will be invited to attend, at our expense, the N.E.S.G.F.O.A.'s Annual Training Seminar at The Learning Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts, on MARCH 29 and 30, 2007, where the award will be presented.
